Visit Visa extension to be Stopped, No renewals after June End

The General Directorate for Passport (Jawazat) has announced that there will be no extension and renewal for visit visas after 1st July,2014 for any expatriates except for Syrian nationals. It is applicable for all categories – wife, mother, father etc.

Notices have been posted in the departments informing the public of the same.

Also, as per the experiences of some the expats, they are able to get renewal but only upto 27th June, 2014 which is the last day of Shaban and the next day is Ramadan. It is clear from this that they want to reduce the number of visitors & crowd to Holy cities in Ramadan and Hajj period. Also note that at the time of application of visit visa, it is clearly mentioned that visitor shall not perform Umrah or Hajj on this visa. The reason for this it seems is crowd control and people management at peak time in the Holy cities.

All expatriates are advised to plan the return of their visitors accordingly. Kindly note that penalty for overstaying is SR 15,000 and deportation.
