Visit Visa extension to be Stopped, No renewals after June End

GOOD NEWS : VISIT VISA RENEWAL has been resumed. Click here for more details

The General Directorate for Passport (Jawazat) has announced that there will be no extension and renewal for visit visas after 1st July,2014 for any expatriates except for Syrian nationals. It is applicable for all categories – wife, mother, father etc.

Notices have been posted in the departments informing the public of the same.

Also, as per the experiences of some the expats, they are able to get renewal but only upto 27th June, 2014 which is the last day of Shaban and the next day is Ramadan. It is clear from this that they want to reduce the number of visitors & crowd to Holy cities in Ramadan and Hajj period. Also note that at the time of application of visit visa, it is clearly mentioned that visitor shall not perform Umrah or Hajj on this visa. The reason for this it seems is crowd control and people management at peak time in the Holy cities.

All expatriates are advised to plan the return of their visitors accordingly. Kindly note that penalty for overstaying is SR 15,000 and deportation.

    • SaudiExpert

      1. There is no ban on permanent visa
      2. Renewal of visa is stopped for all except Syrians
      3. There is no news if issuing of new visit visas has been stopped

      • Prasanth

Many many thanks for the reply.

  • mumthas

Sir I am a woman working in MOH as nurse at tabuk. My Family reached on visiting visa, renewal date is 07 th July 2014. Can I able extend the visa for next 90 days.

    • SaudiExpert

As far as we know, they are not renewing visa after 27 June, 2014.
Go to Jawazat on 2nd July and try to renew the visa. If it does not get renewed, then you have some time to arrange for tickets.
Kindly note that ticket fare are going very high due to holiday season.

    Dear Sir,
My wife and a kid arrived here in KSA on visit visa. The visit visa will be expire on 18 June 2014. Can i get an extension for more 90 days. Its my first extension. Aslo please clariy whether, i need to count the days as per English Calender or Arabic Calender and last but not least my Iqama issue in Al-Majma near Riyadh. Can i exten visit visa in Jubail/Dammam jawazt or should i go to Al-Majma Jawazat office to renew visit visa.
    Thanks in advance.

    • Mohsin

Jawazat is telling that they will not renew after June end.
As far as I know, you have to renew in the same location as place of issue of iqama.
However, you can go in advance and check with the jawazat in Dammam if they will renew your visa to be on the safe side.

  • Fawaz Ali

  • Toxic

    Dear Experts,

    Fantastic recourse for us!

I want to bring my parents here to take care of children during the Hajj time as I am intending to do Hajj this year. I just filled the online application of 60 days for the parents, but have not attested from the Chamber of Commerce yet. My question from all of you is:
As there is a rule of ” No extensions on visit visa” what should be the correct time to attest from the ” chamber of commerce” to get in the Que of visit visa, and bring them here?
Or I should leave this online application, and re-apply on a later date, so even if they get two months visa they should be able to stay during the Hajj period?
I have no idea about the duration and validity to travel from approval to get the visa in Pakistan, so kindly suggest the appropriate timing. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Regards

    • SaudiExpert

It is better that you apply ASAP as they might stop issuing visa altogether.
Usually, they stop issuing visa from 15th Shaban.
By the time you endorse the visa and your parents come here, it might be two months and then they stay another two months.
Nothing is certain here, you just try on assumptions and take risks 🙁

I want to know for how many days one can stay legally in K.S.A after final exit visa is stamped on passport ?
I have heard that there is a grace period of 60 days / two months allowed after final exit is stamped on passport before the expiry of iqama/residence permit.

Is it true ? My iqama will expire on 4 June 2014 and I am planning to stamp final exit by 25 May 2014.
If 60 days grace period is permitted, I wish to make use of atleast 54 days due to some personal reasons and exit the kingdom safely before the expiry of the grace period.

Also is it compulsory to surrender iqama to the jawazat officials to process the final exit visa ? Or can iqama be surrendered at the airport on the day of departure ? What is the new rule regarding this ? Anyone who have gone through this stage or have any credible update information on the above querries , please reply. I will be very thankful to you.

    Thanking you
    Sreejesh

    • Mohsin

Yes, normally it is for 60 days from the date of stamping of visa.
The iqama can be with you if your sponsor allows your to keep it. But it has to be subimtted to Jawazat. There have been stories in the newspapers of people returning from Airport because the sponsor did not submit the iqama.

On 20th May my mother came to Saudi Arabia on visit duration to stay is 90 days.my wife is pregnant and she is expected to give birth in first week of September.
I would like extend my mother visa as her visa is going to be expired in the month of August.

    • SaudiExpert

You try by taking report from the Hospital about your wife’s pregnancy and requesting the officer incharge for extension.
If he does not approve, then tell him that you want to talk to his manager/supervisor.
      Best of luck.

  • monik

    sir..

my wife and kid is here in visit visa and it expires on 1st july..now my wife is pregnanat..i want to renew the visa for 3 months…can i get renew..wht all needed for renewel?

    • monik

      14th july

    • SaudiExpert

You can try to get extension on Medical grounds. You have to take report from Hospital that your wife is pregnant and cannot travel and submit along with your Visa renewal application.
It all depends on the officer. If he does give extension, you can try with his supervisor.
      All the best.

    Dear Sir,
I have got a visit visa recently for my in laws. They have been given 30 days visa. Their trip will be from June 24 , 2014 to July 20,2014. Is it ok for them to visit as per given schedule. Will your embassy in my native country stamp visa for this period or they may also refuse sometime.
Honestly speaking, we do have plan for a short trip to Makkah and Madina, should it be ok for them to go to the holy places for a very short trip, or they may face some problems like checking on the way. Thanks

My parents came here on 1st may, their visit visa is for 30days, i want to get my mother visa extended upto August or September, as my wife is pregnant, and her iqama will expire in early july, so she should be here to renew it, and from July she cannot travel, so we have to deliver baby here, i want my mother here,

If I provide affidavit that she will not travel to makkah or madina during this period, is there any chance ?

    • Mohsin

At the time of renewal, take medical report for your wife (preferable in Arabic) that is she is pregnant and requires bed rest and try your luck with the officer or his manager telliing him that you need your mother to help.
      All the best.
      Let us know what happens.

  • Muhammad Ehsan ul Haque

I called my parents on 2nd May 2014 on visit visa.
i have some questions to asked
    1. Normally how many days before i can get the renewal.
    2. if i renew 27 of May and go to newxt renewal on 27 june which is 2 days before shaban ends can i get the renewal for one more month or just for few days before shaban ends.
    Thanks

    • Mohsin

      1. You get renewal 5-6 days before the date of expiry of visa.
      2. Just a guess – It may be possible that you will get only 15 days renewal as grace period to leave the country.

i apply the visit visa for my wife and daughter.its issue but as per news before 1ramzan all visitor should go back, due to this i did not stamp the visa.

Please read the news carefully brother – only extensions have been stopped.
If you visa is valid for 90 days, then you wife can stay for 90 days. After that you can apply along with a medical certificate saying that you wife cannot travel due to pregnancy, then they may give her more extension.
      Best of luck.

The visit visa has a validity date and you need to bring your family before it expires.
If the visa during is for 90 days, then they can stay for 90 days. 5 days before the expiry of visa you can try extension. As per announcement by Jawazat, there is going to be no extension after June end.

Many people are unable to get visit visas now a days. It may be possible that they have stopped issuing visit visas.
You can visit MOFA and find why your visa is not renewed.
Alternately you can try for visit visa through isteqdam.

Simple question. My wife has received her Visit visa (1 month validity) from KSA. If I get it stamped from Saudi Consulate right now……

Can she actually go there at anytime in two months (usually 2 months validity). Or is there any chance that it will get rejected from the Consulate or they’ll only allow her to come back before Ramadan?

I think if she already has the visa from there, they shouldn’t reject or restrict it in anyway.
    Thanks…waiting for your expert reply!

if any question u can email me .. [email protected]
i wil be glad to help you guys

    • SaudiExpert

      Dear Usman,

We are glad to know that you were able to get visa for your mother.

We have shared authentic news as announced by General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat).- See Arab News & Saudi Gazette.

Also, we have personally visited Passport office (jawazat) in Riyadh and talked to officer in charger and they have told us that they are not extending visit visa beyond 27th June, 2014.

Also during our visit, we have seen the people at jawazat who only getting extension upto only 27th June, 2014.

It may be possible that in the Western Region (Makkah-Jeddah) this rule is being not implemented or they have a different understanding of how this rule should be implemented (May be there will be no renewal after July)

It would quite beneficial for the expat community if you can share more details of your visit. If you can write an article on the subject, we would be glad to publish it.

        Imran

        • Umair Ahmed

          Dear Mr. Imran Safdar,

Work Visit Visa is something relate to Iqama. The rule regarding Work Visit is different because The Company who hired you in the first step give you work visit visa for 90 days which should me transferred to Iqama. So ask your company Moaqqib or your Kafeel to arrange Iqama for you. You do not have to worry about the situations for Family Visit Visa Isuue.

    • Umair Ahmed

      Dear Maqdoom,

If the Visit Visa expiry date lies in the Ramadhan, its not be renewed at the best of my knowledge. I have an advise to you to contact your company’s Muaqqib or contact any office for “General Services for Visa” near to Jawazaat – Riyadh. It will help you to understand the situation and hope you will get any solution too.

  • Kashir

    sir,
my father in law came on visit 26-may-2014 and visa validity 30 days; i book the ticket on 25 June 2014(technically 31 days) for this reason is it possible to extend the visa and i am non muslim

    • Umair Ahmed

      Dear Mr. Kashir,

You should not make him stay even a single minute more in Saudi Arabia or you will be penalized SAR-10,000/=, additional may me jailed. Please first arrange the ticket for him on the 30th day accordingly (better if 29th day from the date or arrival). Then go to the Jawazat on 23rd June to apply for renewal and you will get it easily Insha Allah. Otherwise your father in law should to go back.

    JEDDAH: Arab News

    Published — Sunday 29 June 2014

Relatives of expatriate workers who are currently on a visit to the Kingdom can have their family visit visas renewed for the rest of the year if they wish to do so, the Interior Ministry said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Interior Minister Mohammed bin Naif made the announcement on the eve of Ramadan on Saturday, following requests for consideration by expatriates who wish to have their loved ones stay longer with them in the Kingdom.
Visit visa extensions were earlier announced to be until June 28 only.
Maj. Gen. Sulaiman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Yahya, director general of passports, clarified that while the restriction has been removed, visitors whose visas are due to expire must file an application with the Passport Department.
Failure to secure an extension would be a violation of visa rules, he said.

  • Sanah Malik

I am currently residing in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I am a British expatriate and moved here after I got married. My husband is working here as an accountant in General Electric.

I would like some guidance on applying for a family visit visa for my mother (she is currently in the UK).
I am expecting my second baby around the end of June. I would like my mother to be with me at this time for assistance, primarily with helping with my 10 month old son, however I am aware that my due date falls within Ramadan and this is when the Saudi embassy does not accept applications for family visit visas. I came across this difficulty last year when I had my son and unfortunately no one was able to come from the UK.

I would like to know how my mother can come on a visit visa in June, what she is required to do in the UK and what we are required to do here from KSA to make is possible for her to come in June for a period of up to 3 months.

    Kind Regards,
    Sanah Malik
